His 9th minute opener set Wigan Athletic Under 21s on their way as they beat Coventry City 2-0 at Robin Park Arena.
The 18-year-old forward said it was a perfect start to his season.
“It is good to get my first goal of the season today and hopefully there will be many more.
“I felt really strong today and in training I’m getting stronger day by day so my game is coming on slowly but surely.
“It is a brilliant way to start the season for me and I’m really pleased that we got the result today.”
His impressive performance in the game was matched by his team mates.
“Edu (Campabadal) and Steve Boothman just delivered quality crosses all afternoon.
“They do it all the time in training so I expected great delivery like that and I know what they’re capable of.”
The striker signed a professional contract at the end of last season after a successful transition into the Under 21 squad, which saw him score in a 2-0 victory against Swansea City.
Bingham was quick to pay thanks to the club for giving him his chance in football.
“The way I see it is that Wigan Athletic gave me my first chance and I have a lot of respect for the football club for allowing me to play football.
“I’m happy to be here, happy to have signed a contract last season, it’s just brilliant.
“It is obviously hard because you’re away from your family and friends which can always be a potential distraction.
“I feel though, that if you’ve got something and you’ve got an aim to really succeed then nothing gets in the way.
“I didn’t think twice about moving up here and I was just so eager to get underway here when I joined.”
When asked what his aims for the season are, Bingham was buoyant with enthusiasm.
“Lots of goals would be my aim for this season and hopefully getting a lot of games.
“It would be great to just have my all round game be high quality, more assists and more goals to help the team do well and push us on in the new league.”
