DW Stadium in partnership with Wigan Athletic have launched a new text line for fans to report any incidents of anti-social behaviour on a match day.
The Tackling It number 07765 178 462 is designed to allow supporters to easily and confidentially notify the club of any incidences of racist, homophobic or anti-social behaviour on a match day.
Any incidents reported will be acted upon during the game and will allow fans to help make the stadium a better place to watch the Latics in action in the Premier League.
Wigan Athletic Chief Executive, Jonathan Jackson said: “The behaviour of our fans on match days is generally excellent with incidents of trouble fortunately very rare and this, along with the most family friendly tickets prices in the Premier League, helps to create a great atmosphere for our fans on match days.
“But as a Football Club we’re committed to trying to tackle all discrimination, whether it be racist or homophobic chanting or just poor behaviour and introducing this text line is just one of the ways we are working to continue to make the DW Stadium a great place to watch Premier League football.”
The Tackling It Number 07765 178 462 is displayed on boards throughout the stadium and will also be listed in each copy of the Wigan Athletic match day programme.
Wigan Athletic is currently working towards the Kick It Out Equality Standard Preliminary Level. The Equality Standard is a framework which encourages and supports the development of equality practises and professional clubs, across England and Wales and highlights key areas of diversity, race, religion, age, gender disability and sexual orientation.
The Standard looks at how the club recruits employees and young players fairly, as well as the delivery of activities and projects to under-represented groups in the community.
