Winger hoping result can kickstart season

Latics are aiming for their first home win of the season this weekend, when Everton arrive at the DW Stadium.

Chilean international Jean Beausejour hopes the team can follow the example set by the last encounter between the two sides, when a 1-1 draw signalled the start of Latics charge towards Premier League survival.

He said: “The game against Everton last season was important in changing the mentality of the team for the rest of the campaign, and I hope a result on Saturday can have a similar effect.

“It’s going to be difficult because Everton have been a good team at home and away this season so we’ll have to play at our best.

“We’re at home also and this is important. We need to recreate the kind of atmospheres and performances of last season, and make the DW Stadium a strong home for us again.
