Raising the aspirations of young people through football and education

Wigan Athletic Community Trust runs a range of education projects that use football and sport to motive and inspire young people.
The Latics Literacy project involves Community Trust staff delivering a ten week project designed to improve the reading and writing of young people in primary schools in Wigan.
Funded by the Premier League Charitable Fund the scheme works with up to 30 primary schools a year with participants getting the chance to earn match tickets to watch the Latics play at the DW Stadium and receive free football coaching to encourage them to read more often.
In conjunction with its partners at the Montrose Skills Hub, Pro-Co the Latics in the Community Team is working to create a number of new and exciting training and apprenticeship opportunities for young people over the age of 16.
For more information about these schemes please contact 01942 488 530 or e-mail Community Manager Hayley Turner on h.turner@wiganathleticct.com.
